Photography

Andrea Reising

"As an artist, the act of photographing is, for me, tied to a broader examination of the world and search for meaning therein.  'To photograph' is to write with light. By manipulating the interaction between light and the three-dimensional world, a photographer can create visual paradigms which hint at certain possibilities of existence. An artist succeeds at the business of making photographs by pausing the world in order to make visible some truth of the human condition which was hitherto only felt or spoken of. In forgetting what we know and allowing the photograph to inform anew, we may come to new understandings and essentially change and grow as individuals."
